ABOUT
Mr Dairi Vele holds a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University and has a broad and diverse background in areas such as capital raising, commercial ventures, economic policy and financial management in both public and private sector roles.
He was, until recently, the Secretary for the PNG Treasury, a position he had held since 2013.
From 2022, Mr Vele has been engaged by the PNG Government as Chairman for State Negotiations for a number of high profile projects including the commencement of the new Porgera Gold Mine and the P'nyang Gas Agreement.
His current and former Board roles demonstrates both the capacity to address challenging and complex business strategy matters but also a strong commercial and business acumen.

Lead State negotiations for major National resource projects for Papua New Guinea.
Formulate negotiation and closeout strategies within the context of State negotiation priorities and ensure the successful delivery of these in negotiation sessions with project proponents.
Lead a team of technical experts to address complex negotiation positions, including legal matters, risk management, economic benefits sharing and impact assessments and conditions.

Head of PNG Department of Treasury:
Delivery of complex, politically sensitive, and high-profile National Budgets for the Government of PNG.
Lead the Department of Treasury to deliver on a range of State responsibilities including economic policy, sectoral, revenue and market policy, budget implementation and debt management.
Lead negotiations and resolution outcomes for several Government legacy issues to retain relationships and reputation of Government.
Contributed to the governance and strategy focus of 24 Boards as both Chairman and member roles.
Successfully lead teams in complex major projects negotiation and deals including loan and investment restructures as well as such projects as Nautlilus Solwara, Stanley Gas Project, new Porgera Mine and Oil Search Limited stake acquisition.
Built productive cross-agency and donor relationships for the Department and help envision medium to long-term strategies that drive structural reform programs.
